Pelham jamboree:
Pelham scored nine points in the first four minutes Friday night and held
on to nip Moody 15-7 at Pelham.
The Panthers and Blue Devils played the first two quarters with both
teams playing virtually everyone on their rosters. Moody played Fultondale
in a one-quarter contest and won 14-6, and Fultondale closed out the night
with a 7-0 win over Pelham in the final quarter.
A botched punt snap by Moody turned into a quick safety, and the Panthers
needed just five plays to notch the game's first touchdown following the
free kick. Quarterback Chase Armstrong found Tyler Payne open on the left
sideline on a fade route and an 18-yard score.
Moody clawed back on 11 plays, scoring on a 7-yard pass from Davis
Harrison to C.J. Burell.
Pelham added its final touchdown on a 34-yard pass from Tyler Burger to
Ryan Evans with 1:35 remaining.
Moody's Lou Meadows led all rushers with 41 yards on six carries. Drew
Burleson led Pelham with 37 yards rushing on four carries. Evans caught two
passes for 54 yards. Ron Ingram --
